Yep, I thought I would write a whole paragraph on my thoughts about certain composers and the movies they've worked with. Since I was chatting away about favourite movie scores with my Mom the past Sunday, I thought it would be a great idea to write down.
One composer worth mentioning is Ennio Morricone. It was a pity he was more noted for his Western movie compositions, such as the BIG classics like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and a Fist Full of Dollars. Overall he only produced 30 compositions for the Western genre of movies though. I won't give disrepect to that genre of movie, I'm just not a big fan. I'm just saying that his more powerful pieces lie in movies such as Once Upon a Time in America. It's only my opinion mind you, but the emotion it holds and the grasp it takes with particular scenes in the movie. They really go hand with hand together, and time perfectly with the different characters emotions and their predicaments of the movie.
Another worth mentioning is the score to The Untouchables. I especially like the piece that goes along with the final rooftop scene. It's tense, it's upbeat and has that kinda American Mafioso theme going on. I love it.
A well worthy composer to appreciate and listen to, he has a special kind of place in the movie composers' hall of fame.
